Cocaine Integrated Treatment

“Integrated” treatment refers to employing an all-inclusive focus and a multi-layered strategy to achieve overall wellbeing for a patient. In the context of cocaine addiction treatment, “integrated” means involving the mental, emotional, spiritual and social along with the physical facets of a cocaine addiction. Dual Diagnosis is another term for integrated treatment and also looks at the mental and emotional origins and changes associated with drug use. An integrated program involves a variety of medical professionals including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Psychologists
  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Therapists
  • Psychiatric specialists

Residential Cocaine Integrated Treatment

Detox-only cocaine treatment found at many residential treatment centers, residential cocaine integrated treatment incorporates and examines all aspects of a patient’s life in order to prevent relapse from occurring once a patient is released. This form of treatment often requires follow-up appointments to ensure individuals who have left the facility are still maintaining sobriety. While taking part in integrated treatment, patients are often asked to participate in the following activities:

  • Group counseling or therapy
  • Individual counseling
  • 12-step program meetings
  • Spirituality awareness therapy
  • Relapse prevention training
  • Psychiatric and psychological evaluations and tests
  • Physical activities such as sports, meditation, yoga or gym work-outs
  • Healthy meal plans

Outpatient Cocaine Integrated Treatment

Outpatient treatment is often recommended for those who have completed cocaine detox and wish to continue with integrated addiction treatment while carrying on with their normal lives. Outpatient treatment programs participate in many of the same activities as those involved with inpatient treatment. Patients in outpatient treatment must still keep up with therapy and the integrated program to prevent relapse and continue on their path to recovery. If the patient neglects their sessions, training, meetings or therapy, there is a higher chance of a relapse.
